报告题目:Solid state ploymer batteries

人:Prof. Michel Armand

报告时间:2015924日上午930

报告地点:化学楼二楼一号会议室

报告人简介:

Michel Armand, born in France (1946), graduated from Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris (rank 1st); Master in inorganic and organic chemistry (Paris 1968); Ph.D. in Physics (1978); Fullbright fellow at Stanford University (1970-71). Invited professor at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory (1982-83). Professor at University of Montreal (Canada) (1995-2004). Director of the Joint CNRS-UdM International Laboratory on Electroactive Materials (2000-2004). Professor at Université de Picardie Jules Verne (2006-2012).

Michel Armand has covered several aspects and theoretical concepts in the field of energy-related electrochemistry with commercial applications worldwide:

1)    Concept of rocking-chair-battery (Li-ion battery, commercialized worldwide since 1990s);

2)    Introduction of the polymer electrolytes for Li metal battery application (1978), already commercially used in electric cars of Autolib in Europe, followed by the introduction of new families highly conductive salts (perfluoroimides like TFSI, FSI, and superTFSI) for liquid and polymer electrolytes;

3)    Ushering the concept of intercalation compounds (1972) and sulfur/sulfide redox couple;

4)    Present activities include the study and optimisation of production of carbon-coated Lithium-Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) and LiFSI; new solvating polymers, and techniques to obtain cross-linked networks; Hückel stabilised negative charges.

Michel Armand has authored or co-authored 200 publications including Nature and Nature Materials; over 240 presentations at conferences, of which 140 were invited, 160 patents delivered or pending. Ph.D advisor for 17 students.

He is acting as Editorial Board for several  journals (J. Power Sources, Solid-State Ionics, Journal of Applied Electrochemistry, JNMES) and Conferences advisory committee and organisation for 18 intrenational conferences.

     Scientific Distinctions and Awards: Bronze then silver Medal C.N.R.S. (1978, 1989); Royal Society, Faraday Division, Medal Award (1985); Preis fur Umweltteknologie Saarland Länder (1988); Battery Division Award, The Electrochemical Society USA (1988); Pergamon Medal, International Society for Electrochemistry (1995); Volta Award ECS European Section (2000); First recipient, Doctor Honoris Causa from Uppsala University (2006); Galileo Award for Polymer Electrolytes research, University of Padua (2010).
